The Hon Sussan Ley MP

Deputy Leader of the Opposition

Speeches by Sussan Ley

Shadow Minister for Women

Shadow Minister for Industry, Skills and Training

Shadow Minister for Small and Family Business

Member for Farrer

Whilst still managing the family farm, raising her young children, and studying part-time, Sussan took up a position at the Australian Taxation Office, in Albury, where she quickly progressed to the role of Director. In 2001, Sussan ran to represent her electorate of Farrer, covering much of southern New South Wales, in our Federal Parliament. Sussan has since been returned by her constituents at seven subsequent elections and has been allocated various Ministerial portfolio responsibilities during her two decades in Parliament. Sussan maintains a commercial pilot licence from years of aerial stock-mustering in outback New South Wales and Queensland and, in 2022, was elected by her colleagues as Deputy Leader of the Opposition. As Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Sussan chose the Shadow Ministerial responsibilities she holds today, including for Small and Family Business. Sussan has now spent the better part of the past two years listening to Australians on the matters most affecting their businesses, in order to develop the policy responses Australians need from their alternative Government in Canberra.
